PROJECT SUMMARY Addison Plant worked as the principle contractor to deliver the road & sewers package for the Gleeson Homes new housing site at Ryehill, Redcar. The location of the site is within the footprint of the old Ryehill comprehensive school and is set in the middle of an existing housing estate accessed via a small estate road. The general works included the construction of a new adoptable highway with a foul & surface water drainage system. More specifically the scheme involved the following: • Road construction included bulk excavation, stone to level, service ducting, laying kerb raft & temporary blocks and tarmacing of the base & binder layers. The total area of the road is 1400m2 and was adopted by Redcar & Clevelend Council. • The drainage element of the site includes 290lm of 1200Ø & 900Ø attenuation pipework, 1No hydrobreak manhole & 19 other manholes up to 3.5m deep. Other drainage works included 1st off manholes & gullies. All drainage works were adopted by NWL. • The SW & FW drainage tie-in was in the existing busy Redcar Lane & had to be completed within the 2 week working window of Easter due to the close proximity of the local Rye Hill School. For this section of works Addison Plant were responsible for the TM, reinstatement & liaising with the local residents. • During the course of the works Addison’s were responsible for attaining all the relevant notices to work, fulfilling all testing requirements, setting out/surveying & liaising with the relevant parties (Redcar & Cleveland Council & NWL etc).

TESTIMONIAL

"During my time at Northern Counties Safety Group it is evident that Addison Plant regard safety as being equally important as quality and production.
At the core of their safety culture is an active involvement from the directors and senior management, which recognises that people are Addison Plants greatest asset.
It is positive and encouraging to see that the motivation to continually improve their safety culture is helping drive down accidents in our industry, with this years figures being at an all time low.
Even in these tough times for construction, Addison Plant have implemented a successful health and safety management system that should be seen as a benchmark to other civil engineering organisations.
With the company’s continual improvement and commitment to safety, it is my belief that Addison Plant are on the right track."
